The Jaguar XF gets a new engine and tweaks for 2014
In many ways the Jaguar XF is Jaguar’s most complete car, and significant updates since it launched in 2008 have kept it fresh and appealing. But the tweaks Jaguar has wrought for 2014 are relatively minor as the XF gets towards the end of its current cycle, the most significant of which is an upgrade to the 2.2 litre diesel engine. The 2.2 litre ECO2 engine is a replacement for the 161bhp entry-level diesel in the 2013 XF and gets revised cooling and bigger EGR valves which have conspired to improve official economy, and therefore reduce emissions (to 128g/km) handily putting the 2.2 XF in to a lower BIK band (down from 21 to 19 per cent).
New BMW M3 and M4 Configurator now live
No customer has yet had the chance to drive the new BMW M4 (or its saloon sibling, the 2014 BMW M3) but that hasn’t stopped UK buyers clamouring to place an order. BMW UK has revealed that more than 200 UK customers have already placed and order for the new M Twins, with expectations that there will be almost 2000 sales in the first year (60/40 in favour of the M4 Coupe). But even though those first UK buyers for the M3 and M4 haven’t driven their new baby yet, they can now go online and play with the both the new M3 and M4 configurator to spec up their new toy just as they did with the dealer, but get a much better idea of what to expect.
At Mercedes, the naming of new models is often trickier than the technology these vehicles convey. Under the current badging hierarchy, most mainstream models use familiar one-letter names like S-class or G-Wagen. So far, so logical.
